Riverside Inverclyde (Ri) is delighted to confirm that it has secured a major new regional first aid training centre for Inverclyde.

Launching from today, St Andrew’s First Aid Training and Supplies will be based at Ladyburn Business Centre in Greenock and is pledging to train 500 people within its first year.

Kenny Fulton, from Greenock, will spearhead the courses on behalf of the organisation.  He joined the team last year and is a veteran trainer who previously worked in the leisure industry for 20 years, teaching life-guarding and first aid.

Kenny said:

“First aid courses are critical for employers to provide a safe working environment for staff and to ensure employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.  I’ve been involved in first aid and health and safety training for over 20 years and I’m passionate about what I do."

“It gives me the opportunity to share my own knowledge and real life experiences and, in turn, I can pass on valuable lifesaving skills to others.”

The new facility will be fully kitted out with all the equipment necessary to deliver a range of specialist and certified first aid and health and safety programmes.

Ri launched the short-term hire Meeting Room facility at Ladyburn Business Centre in April 2018 and has since secured a number of short-term and repeat lets for training courses, team building and specific projects.

Andrew Bowman, Head of Business Investment at Ri said:

"It is a great boost to the Inverclyde business community to now have a local provider of these critical and mandatory courses for staff to attend.  Up until now, most individuals have had to travel out-with Inverclyde to gain their accreditation.

"This will also bring businesses into Inverclyde so we're delighted to be working with such a well-know and important charity in St Andrew's First Aid and wish them every success in Greenock."

A spokesman for St Andrew's First Aid said:

"Greenock will provide a central point for St Andrew’s First Aid Training and Supplies Ltd, aimed at bringing the highest quality workplace first aid training closer to the business communities located in the west coast of Scotland."
