Mind Mosaic growth supported by Riverside Inverclyde
Mind Mosaic, an Inverclyde based counselling and therapy charity, has announced an ambitious expansion of its services. The charity, which was founded in July 2012, has previously provided its wide range of therapy from Hood Street in Greenock. As a result of growth and success of the charity, Mind Mosaic has split their adult and child services into two new locations in Inverclyde.
Riverside Inverclyde’s (ri) Scarlow House Business Centre in Port Glasgow will be the new home for Child and Family Therapy services from November 2017, with the charity taking three suites, a total of 565 sq ft. Whilst the charity awaits entry, its temporary home is at ri’s Ladyburn Business Centre in Greenock. Mind Mosaic’s Adult Therapy has also relocated to Nelson Street in Greenock.
The expansion in services and ability to take new premises has been supported by the successful grants that Mind Mosaic has secured, including a £256,000 award from, Survivor Scotland over the next 3 years, a £10,000 perinatal mental health award from The Big Lottery Fund, a £13,000 award from Inverclyde Community Development Trust for people involved with their employability programmes and a £10,000 award from Children In Need. The charity has also secured a counselling contract with Ardgowan Hospice for employee counselling.
The Child and Family Therapy has also received a grant of £126,000 from the Big Lottery Improving Lives fund for the Play It Out Service for Child & Family Therapies.
Sandra Boyle, Director of Child and Family Therapy at Mind Mosaic said:
“The growth of our charity has been fantastic over the past few years and after a period of continued expansion, Mind Mosaic is now able to split our child and family therapies and adult services. The Child and Family facilities being located at Scarlow House enables a fantastic base to be closer to some of the service providers in Port Glasgow, with easy access in a comfortable environment for clients. It will also enable us to see more families and expand our services even wider.”
Mind Mosaic has grown from an initial 3 employees to 8 with a further 14 sessional and voluntary staff also involved with the charity. The various services provided include counselling therapy, play therapy, adult survivor services, filial and perinatal services.
Gwyneth MacDonald, Director of Adult Therapy at Mind Mosaic said:
“Our ability to expand into these two new premises helps us to deliver a far wider range of services, creating further job and voluntary opportunities for local therapists. Mind Mosaic has always been very supportive of students and with this expansion it is an exciting time for everyone involved with the charity. Most importantly, it enables us to offer a range therapy services locally to some of the vulnerable people in Inverclyde, without them having to travel out with the area.”
