Key Traffic Route Re-Opens in Inverclyde
Months of traffic disruption on one of Inverclyde's busiest routes has come to an end.
Baker Street, Greenock has fully re-opened following work to realign the corner into Drumfrochar Road.
The £3million project delivered by Riverside Inverclyde on behalf of Inverclyde Council also includes a redesigned traffic light junction at Ingleston Street, improved provision for pedestrians and landscaping.
According to officials, the previous road layout with its sharp bend "met no design criteria whatsoever" with lorries having to cut across the carriageway as they went round the corner.
Relief for the area's motorists will be short-lived however with nine days of major roadworks starting on the A8 in Greenock tonight (Friday).
