Major Residential Development Proposed For Port Glasgow School Site
River Clyde Homes is applying to build more than 200 flats and houses at the former St Stephen's High School site in upper Port Glasgow.
The housing association is submitting planning applications for 226 dwellings - 170 flats and 56 houses - for social rent.

The Recruit Returns To Riverside Inverclyde
Riverside Inverclyde welcomed Inverclyde Council’s The Recruit programme again on the 24 July 2018, with 24 candidates attending from the 2018 programme. This year’s Recruits were given challenges throughout the day which focused on current Ri projects, including Smart Greenock Wi-Fi, Taste Inverclyde and the West Blackhall Street improvements with the Recruits offering some valuable insight and feedback to the Ri team.

Locals and visitors are raising a glass to a tasty new product offering the ultimate guide to everything food and drink in Inverclyde. The Taste Inverclyde Food and Drink Guide 2018 is a 56-page glossy A5 magazine produced by the Greenock Telegraph in partnership with Riverside Inverclyde, offering readers a comprehensive tour of the area’s eateries.

Jim McColl OBE To Speak At Ri and Entrepreneurial Scotland Event
Jim McColl OBE, the chief executive of investment company Clyde Blowers Capital, which is transforming the Ferguson Marine Engineering shipyard in Port Glasgow, will share the secrets of his success at a special evening in Greenock’s Custom House. Organised by Entrepreneurial Scotland, Scotland’s leading membership network, in partnership with Riverside Inverclyde, the event promises to be inspirational for entrepreneurially minded individuals who will hear about the journey of the billionaire businessman, who left school at 16.

Greenock Care Home's Ship-Shape Garden Wins Award
Green-fingered staff and residents at a Greenock care home are celebrating after digging their way to victory in an annual gardening competition. Kincaid House triumphed over 22 other Meallmore care homes across Scotland, securing the top spot in the care provider’s Meallmore in Bloom competition with its creative nautical-themed garden design.

Planners Urge Go-Ahead For Kilmacolm Residential Development
Planning officials are recommending approval for a major housing development - including nearly 50 houses - at the Balrossie House site in Kilmacolm. A total of 64 houses and flats are proposed for the site with construction expected to take three-and-a-half years.

Extension To Lady Octavia Car Park Complete
Inverclyde Council has extended the car park at Lady Octavia sports centre and created a new access from Bridgend Road. The new £220,000 car park has 82 spaces and spaces for two motorbikes.

Riverside Inverclyde Secures St Andrew's First Aid Training Centre For Inverclyde
Riverside Inverclyde is delighted to confirm that it has secured a major new regional first aid training centre for Inverclyde. Launching last week, St Andrew’s First Aid Training and Supplies will be based at Ladyburn Business Centre in Greenock and is pledging to train 500 people within its first year.

Creative Inverclyde #02 Event Announced
A varied line-up of speakers will take part in the next Creative Inverclyde event being held by Riverside Inverclyde and Craig Black Design. Creative Inverclyde is a series of talks and events from local creatives with inspiring stories to tell. Launched in June 2018, it encourages discussion, shares ideas and fosters collaboration. The free session is on Wednesday 12 September at the Custom House in Greenock.
