Bakers Brae Road Realignment Works To Begin

Contractors are due to start work on realigning a busy road through Greenock as part of the wider regeneration of the area. RJ McLeod has been awarded the £2.5million contract to remove the sharp corner between Baker Street and Drumfrochar Road by cutting through the site of recently demolished industrial buildings.

Green Light For Greenock School Refurbishment

Planning permission has been granted for a Greenock school to undergo a multi-million pounds transformation. The £6million refurbishment and extension of St Mary’s primary is the latest key project in Inverclyde Council’s ambitious schools estate investment.

Official Opening For Greenock Nursery

An Inverclyde nursery has been officially reopened after undergoing a £1.3million refurbishment. The Bluebird Family Centre in Greenock has been completely transformed thanks to a new extension, playground and soft play areas.

Shore Street Public Realm Works - Project Overview

The first images of the completed public realm and spur road works for the Port Glasgow Lower Town Quarter project have been released. A Port Glasgow Town Centre Master Plan was developed in 2014 after extensive consultation with local residents and businesses identified the development of a new gateway into the town centre as a priority for investment.

There is still potential interest in the sale of the Texas Instruments plant in Greenock which has been earmarked for closure. Greenock Dockers' Club's Amazing £60,000 Goodbye To Inverclyde

A Social club which closed its doors bequeathed a final gift to the community - by donating £60,000 to good causes. The Dockers, one of the last remaining social clubs in the town, called last orders on Hogmanay after serving the public for 36 years.

Decision To Be Made On Garden Or Boat Projects For Vacant Gourock Yard Site

Inverclyde councillors are to decide which of three community uses proposed for an old Gourock boat yard should go ahead. The council last year ruled out selling the the former McLean's Yard at Cove Road for housing and invited other ideas for the site which has been vacant for years.

Game Show Scenes Were Filmed At Cardwell Garden Centre

Scenes for a game show being broadcast on BBC1 on Saturday (28 April) were filmed at Cardwell Garden Centre, near Gourock. The Ready Or Not production crew descended on the garden centre last year to shoot part of the show, which features a character called Surprisey Man, played by comedian Matthew Cosby.
