On-Site Scanning Doubles Its Workforce With Move to Riverside Inverclyde’s Kelburn Business Park

Riverside Inverclyde has welcomed another new tenant, On-Site Scanning to its Kelburn Business Park development in Port Glasgow. Established in Inverclyde in 2006, On-Site Scanning is forecasting annual sales this year of £1m with the move resulting in a doubling of its workforce, most of whom are Inverclyde locals.

SDP Free Procurement Advice and Training

Supplier Development Programme (SDP) is a business initiative  supported by Scottish Local Authorities, Scottish Government and other public bodies. The aim of the programme is to ensure that Scottish SMe’s and Third Sector organisations have access to free procurement advice and training, to ensure they can FIND, WIN and KEEP government contracts.

Scottish Government Repeats Commitment to Take Over Kilcreggan Ferry

The Kilcreggan ferry has seen a significant improvement in service since the contract was taken over by Greenock-based Clyde Marine in May, with far greater reliability and increased passenger numbers. However, the service is still the only ferry service in the country to be operated by SPT, a body which an MSP says specialises is in the operation of bus services.

Beacon Appoints Four New Board Members

Businessman Puneet Gupta, former school teacher Gerry Maguire and producer Jo Walmsley have all become directors following a recruitment drive. Previous general election candidate For Inverclyde, Martin McCluskey, has also joined the board.

Inchgreen Drydock Will Not Benefit From £1 billion Worth of Royal Navy Contracts

Peel Ports have confirmed that the Greenock facility will not share in any of the lucrative contracts awarded to its Cammell Laird and A&P Falmouth yards in England. The blow comes as Inverclyde Council chiefs all but rule out any public takeover of the site, following pressure from the Campaign to Save Inchgreen group, who want the asset to be revitalised to create jobs.

Arts and Heritage Centre Plan For Old Port Glasgow Building

RIG Arts, in conjunction with Inverclyde Council, is looking into set up the community facility at King George VI building at King Street. It would feature visual arts and film projects, creative workshops, training and education opportunities, exhibitions, public artworks, community spaces and events.

Inverclyde Leisure Launches State-Of-The Art Cycle Studio

The facility - one of the first of its kind in the UK - has staff and customers at the Waterfront in a spin following the grand unveiling on Tuesday by British cyclist Jen George. A former meeting room has been transformed into a futuristic studio housing 16 interactive bikes - which retail at over £4,000 each - from leading fitness equipment manufacturer, Technogym.

A mini army of poppy sellers has been recruited by Cardwell Garden Centre - and they’re all girls called Poppy. Cardwell Garden Centre is donating 50p to the charities for every Gardman Poppy Bird Feeder sold for £6.99

Plan For Primary Schools To Go Cashless For Meals And Trips

All primary and secondary schools, plus Craigmarloch additional support needs school, already have an online payment system - ParentPay - in place but officials want to press ahead with removing the option of paying by cash at primary schools completely.

Ardgowan Hospice Closing One Of Its Charity Shops

Ardgowan Hospice is closing its charity shop at Cardwell Bay, Gourock. From November, the hospice will consolidate its retail efforts in the town at its Kempock Street premises.

Opening Date Confirmed For Port Glasgow McDonald's

The new £2.6million drive-thru McDonald's restaurant in Port Glasgow will open on Wednesday 31 October. It has been built in part of the car park at the town's Tesco Extra store, with the two-storey building seating around 160 people.

Residents across Inverclyde are being asked to put forward their views, ideas and suggestions as part of the council’s budget setting for 2019/20. Council bosses are asking for positive ideas and suggestions for improvements to make services across the area operate at their best.

Residential Plan For Land In Greenock

Permission in principle is being sought for a residential development on vacant ground at Berryyards Road beside the railway line. Plans submitted to Inverclyde Council show plots for 10 properties from A&G Properties and is pending consideration by council planners.

Local Businesses Back Carer Passport Discount Scheme

Unpaid carers in Inverclyde will get discounts and benefits from local businesses thanks to a new scheme. The initiative has gained support from businesses across the district. It has been developed by Inverclyde Carers Centre and is funded by Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership.

Local People to Have Budget Say

 Inverclyde Council is asking local people to come up with ideas on how budget can be spent in their communities. A new participatory budgeting scheme is being trialled across Inverclyde where up to £50,000 in each of the area’s seven wards is being made available.

Success For Inverclyde Manufacturers at BBC Good Food Show

The BBC Good Food Show returned to the SEC in Glasgow for the twelfth year and saw two Inverclyde businesses join the line up – The Start-Up Drinks Lab and The New Chocolate Company. Both proved to be very popular with visitors at the show, with both start-up food and drink businesses enjoying success from their Kelburn Business Park base in Port Glasgow.

 A TV star who reached the final of BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef has agreed to be head chef at a free festive dinner for lonely people in Greenock. Hardeep Singh Kohli, a comedian, cook and TV presenter, has agreed to help out at the festive feast in Gibshill Community Centre.

Small Business Saturday Announces Inverclyde Leg of UK Tour to Help Growing Businesses

Riverside Inverclyde has teamed up with Small Business Saturday UK to secure a stage of its UK bus tour for Gourock. The campaign bus will visit Kempock Street in Gourock between 4pm and 5pm on Tuesday 30 October and will be offering free mentoring sessions to small businesses, including mentors from bus tour supporter Xero’s network of small business accountants, plus many more.

Weeks Of Roadworks Ahead On A78 In Greenock Town Centre

Motorists face weeks of disruption during overnight closures of a major section of the A78 through Greenock. Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out bridge deck inspection works on a stretch of High Street that goes over the Oak Mall shopping centre.
