Riverside Inverclyde Welcomes The Start-Up Drinks Lab To Inverclyde

Riverside Inverclyde, the organisation delivering the economic redevelopment of Inverclyde in the west of Scotland, has welcomed a new tenant - The Start-Up Drinks Lab - to its Kelburn Business Park development in Port Glasgow. The fledgling business was awarded a funding and support package of £75,000 by Scottish Edge to assist its future growth and success.  It currently employs six people at the Kelburn plant and aims to create 15 jobs by 2021.

The Wise Group Secures Deals To Tackle Fuel Poverty

The Wise Group has beenchosen again as the delivery partner for Inverclyde Council to meet the targets set out by the Scottish Government’s Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland, which delivers upgrades to energy efficiency and regeneration to some of the region’s most deprived area.

Plans Lodged For 58 Homes At Former Greenock School

Cloch Housing Association want to build 58 properties on land formerly occupied by King's Glen Primary beside Kilmacolm Road. A planning application for the affordable housing development has been submitted to Inverclyde Council.

St Ninians Welcomes Pupils After £10million Development

St Ninian’s in Gourock is the latest project in a £270million schools estate investment programme.The new school has been built on a site next to the old school building which was opened fifty years ago.

New Look For Lady Alice

One of the oldest of Inverclyde Council’s primary schools has undergone a complete transformation thanks to a £3.8million refurbishment. Built in 1937, the original exterior of the building has been retained while the inside has been completely reworked and modernised and a new reception area added.

Marine Training School Plan For Greenock Waterfront

Stream Marine Training wants permission to build a marine training facility at East India Harbour, Greenock. The application to Inverclyde Council includes classrooms, offices, canteen and storage facilities with supporting infrastructure, areas for storing small boats and equipment for lifting them in and out of the water.

Garden Legacy For Gourock Artist - George Wyllie

A community garden dedicated to the late artist George Wyllie has been officially opened in Gourock – his home of 50 years. The £30,000 project, delivered by regeneration specialists Riverside Inverclyde, has a number of special features including a pathway in the shape of a question mark – a recurring theme in Wyllie’s work.

Celebrating The Life And Works Of Artist George Wyllie

Wyllie’s work had close associations with shipbuilding on the Clyde. The self-taught artist, who worked as a customs and excise officer after the war, described his art as ‘scul?ture’ and insisted that the question should be at the centre of everything.

Gourock Honours Artist George Wyllie

Budding painters have created a new tribute in honour of late Gourock artist George Wyllie. Ahead of the opening of a special garden in memory of the 'Paper Boat' creator on Friday August 24, people visited the town's Heritage Centre on Sunday 19 August to decorate their own paper boats.

Trial Of The Century For Doors Open Days

The Wicked Witch of the West will be looking for justice when Inverclyde takes part in this year’s Doors Open Days next month.Riverside Inverclyde's historic Custom House in Greenock is one of 28 venues taking part on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September 2018. Bus and walking tours are also available.

Cancer patients and people with disabilities will benefit after transport bosses stepped in with £30,000 of funding. Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has donated £20,000 to the Ardgowan Hospice Patient Transport Service while the Port Glasgow Voluntary Trans-Port Group have received £10,000.

Jeremy Corbyn Promises Major Investment Into Inverclyde If He Becomes Prime Minister

Jeremy Corbyn has promised major investment in Inverclyde to boost employment, improve infrastructure and aid health services if he becomes prime minister. During a visit to Greenock on Wednesday, the Labour leader says money would be readily available for the area should his party form the next UK Government.

Greenock Girl Carys Celebrates Top Legal Award

A law graduate from Greenock has been recognised for outstanding achievements in conveyancing. Carys Magee received the accolade from Millar and Bryce, a land and property search firm, for her continued efforts and contribution in her diploma in Professional Legal Practice.

Public Views Sought On Future Use Of Old West Kirk

A public consultation event is taking place over the future of the historic Old West Kirk in Greenock. A study team, led by architects Elder & Cannon, is putting together options for the site on behalf of the Scottish Redundant Churches Trust. An informal drop-in event to find out more and share views takes place at the Pirrie Hall, beside the Old West Kirk, on Wednesday 5 September from 3 to 7pm.

Greenock Cricket Club hosts its Gig on the Green music event - featuring 16 acts - at its Glenpark ground on Sunday 2 September. It starts at 1pm at the venue in Brisbane Street and continues to 7.30pm. Bands and performers include The Wherries, Shelagh McKay Jones, The Urban Folkers, Dymensha, Flung Aboot, Broomberry Drive, Black Dove, The Sinsheimers, Durty Mac, Travelling Jukebox, D.K.Maxx, Gram Allan,Church Bros, The Drams and Gary McDowell.

Custom House Commended At Scottish Design Awards

Riverside Inverclyde's The Custom House received a commendation at the Scottish Design Awards in the 'Re-use of a Listed Building' category, sponsored by Urban Realm. Nominated by project architects Elder + Cannon, the Greenock landmark has been a six-year £5 million restoration project for Riverside Inverclyde

Broomhill Community Hub In Running For Design Honour

A Greenock community facility has been nominated for a national award. Broomhill Gardens and Community Hub has been shortlisted in the regeneration architecture category of the Scottish Design Awards, being held in The Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow on Thursday.

A total of 77 competitors took part in Inverclyde Leisure's Gourock triathlon on Sunday 19 August 2018, with Hugo MacMillan winning the event in a time of 50:13.
