Riverside Inverclyde welcomes Global US IT company as new tenant at Gourock Business Centre

Riverside Inverclyde, has welcomed a new tenant to its £600k redeveloped Business Centre at Gourock Municipal Buildings. Set to bring quality jobs, and new opportunities to Inverclyde is Accelalpha Inc, a premier business and IT consultancy firm headquartered in Seattle, USA with a global presence in the United States, India, Singapore, and now the United KingdomThis is the multinational company’s first foray into the UK and its Gourock office will be its UK headquarters.

Ri To Deliver Smart Town Project For Greenock Town Centre

Capita has been awarded the £185,000 contract to develop Smart Town connectivity by Inverclyde Council on behalf of the Greenock Town Centre Regeneration Forum. Working closely with Capita, Inverclyde Council’s delivery agent Riverside Inverclyde will design and deliver a leading-edge, secure and fully managed wireless solution.

School Opening to Mark Catholic Schools Centenary

The official opening of Inverclyde Council’s new £9.2million primary school is to take place on the centenary of the law allowing the state funding of Catholic schools. Wednesday 21 November 2018 will see the official opening of the new St Ninian’s Primary in Gourock – the latest school to be completed as part of Inverclyde Council’s £270million investment in its school estate.

Detailed Plans Unveiled For 198 Houses At Old Greenock Hospital Site

A planning application has been submitted for 198 homes at the former Ravenscraig Hospital site in Greenock. The development would be made of 150 houses and 48 cottage flats. A wide range of properties is proposed from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom family houses with three floors.

Traffic Lights Proposed For Greenock Junction So Housing Can Go Ahead

Traffic lights are being proposed for a busy Greenock road junction as part of a large housing development. Developers say the intersection of the A78 Inverkip Road at Branchton Road and Gleninver Road will need to be changed under plans for nearly 200 houses at the former Ravenscraig Hospital site.

Nearly £1 Million Awarded For Greenock East End Community Hub

Craigend Resource Centre in McLeod Street, Greenock has been awarded £950,000 from the National Lottery to replace their ageing community centre with a "vibrant new community hub". The new centre will bring people together around a range of resources such as a community café; training kitchen, information and advice services; IT training suite; crèche and a flexible space for meetings, events and exercise classes.

Guest House Set to Open In Gourock After Popular Pub Is Refurbished

The Albert Hotel has been given a new lease of life after being bought over by Kirsteen Murray. It has now been completely transformed and converted back into a guest house following a six-figure investment. Now Kirsteen plans to lease The Albert.

Plans For Housing Development At Inverkip

A development of 34 houses is being proposed at Inverkip. Merchant Homes have applied to build properties on land bounded by Langhouse Road, Langhouse Place, Millhouse Road and Inverkip Cemtery. There would be a mixture of three and four-bedroom houses. Twenty of them would be detached and 14 semi-detached.

River Clyde Homes scoops Scottish Energy Efficiency Award

River Clyde Homes is celebrating success at the Scottish Regional Energy efficiency awards after scooping the prize for best small scale project.The housing association was nominated for the award by Union Technical Services for a project which saw 250 hard to heat homes across Inverclyde receive upgraded insulation.

Permission Sought For Sculpture At Broomhill, Greenock

A heritage sculpture is being proposed for Broomhill Gardens and Community Hub in Greenock. A planning application has been submitted for the artwork, which has the working titles 'The Broomhill Phoenix' and 'Lest We Forget' and would be nearly 15 feet tall. The project is being funded by Creative Scotland and is being managed by RIG Arts.

Greenock Business Owner 'Heartbroken' After Foot Clinic Destroyed By Flood Water

Tracey Gallacher, who owns Acorn Foot Practice in West Blackhall Street, was faced with a scene of devastation when she pulled up the shutters at her premises last Monday. Water had poured in from through the ceiling from a property two flights up, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Cunard cruise ship Queen Elizabeth visited Greenock on Saturday. Queen Elizabeth is the second Cunarder to visit the Clyde this summer; Queen Victoria was at Greenock in May.

Funding Available for Autism Friendly Inverclyde

Local groups are being urged to apply for funding from Inverclyde Council to help improve the lives of local people living with autism. Grants of at least £5,000 are available as part of Inverclyde Council’s Autism Strategy which aims to develop services, training and support.

Staff at Amazon in Gourock helped the company achieve its biggest Prime Day ever while enjoying fun activities. The team played foosball and table tennis, received free Prime Day t-shirts, danced and had the chance to win lots of great prizes in a special competition.

Quayside Location for Fire Engine Rally

Inverclyde’s popular Fire Engine Rally is to be held at Greenock’s East India Harbour for the first time. Around fifteen fire appliances will leave from the current fire station and go on display at the historic quayside. The annual event is supported by Inverclyde Council and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Heritage Trust and takes place on Saturday 28 July at 11am.

Ri To Sponsor New Port Glasgow 10K Fun Run

Riverside Inverclyde is delighted to announce it will be supporting a new Port Glasgow 10k community fun run. It is being organised by the Port Glasgow Runners group, which was set up by local athlete Andrew McCall and includes Councillor Curley, his wife Angela and Jennifer McKechnie, who helped launch Inverclyde 'Couch 2 5k' in 2017.
