Major Ferry Contract For Greenock Ship Repair Yard

Greenock ship repair yard Dales Marine has been awarded a contract worth more than £4million to carry our winter maintenance on most of the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry fleet.

Plan For New £4.5m Hydro-Electric Scheme

A major new £4.5m hydro electric power scheme could be installed near Inverkip - creating enough electricity to power 1,000 homes. Greenock Hydro Power, has applied for permission from Inverclyde Council to create a hydro-electric project that would take water through a new four-kilometre buried pipeline between Loch Thom and Inverkip.

Calls For A New National Film Studio To Be Based In Inverclyde

The case for a new national film studio to be based in Inverclyde has been championed in the Scottish Parliament. Inverclyde MSP Stuart McMillan is pushing for the much-vaunted project to be based locally - and is now challenging Creative Scotland and the government to rethink their plans.

End Of The Line For IBM Halt

Rail passengers heading to and from Inverkip and Wemyss Bay will have one fewer stop on the journey from next month after ScotRail announced that trains will no longer call at IBM Halt. The new timetable, from 9 December, will miss out the station that served the sprawling Spango Valley site which has been completely unoccupied for just over two years.

Popular Greenock Town Centre Pub Up To Let

A long-established and popular pub in the heart of Greenock town centre has been put up for let. The Horseshoe in Kilblain Street, which has a bar and separate lounge, has been made available by its Lancashire-based owners, Trust Inns.

Amazon's £1,000 Boost For New Chapter At St Ninian's

A Gourock primary school has received a donation of £1,000 from the team at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Gourock. Pupils at St Ninian’s wrote to Amazon as part of a letter-writing competition to ask for some books for the library in their new building.

A frozen food retailer based in Gourock has been crowned Scotland’s favourite Italian business. Fourth generation family firm Donald’s Cream Ices, which started out life as an ice cream parlour in 1921, has scooped a coveted prize at the Scottish Italian Awards 2018.
