Development Contract Awarded For Inverclyde’s Pioneering Baker Street Food and Drink Incubator

Riverside Inverclyde has awarded a £1.6m design and build construction contract for its food and drink incubator to Inverclyde contractor, Stewart & Shields. Aimed at enticing the growth of small food and drink businesses, the building will provide manufacturing space and also include shared office space, storage and board room facilities for its tenants alongside shower and change facilities.

20 New Jobs For Inverclyde Windows Firm

Up to 20 jobs are to be created at a Scottish windows manufacturer as it invests £1 million in its Inverclyde facility. Blairs Windows, based in Greenock, said it is to introduce a new PVCu window production line which will improve the company’s competitiveness and supplement its existing range of timber windows and doors.

Council Working To Close £4.1m Funding Gap

Inverclyde Council faces an estimated funding gap of around £4.1million for its 2019/20 budget. Officials have drawn up an initial list of savings and changes that could save nearly £750,000 for councillors to consider at a meeting this month.

Busy Greenock Road Still On Track To Re-Open At End Of Month

Council officials say they are still aiming to re-open a major Greenock traffic route on time despite applying for a three-week extension. Baker Street is shut between Drumfrochar Road and Ingleston Street while road realignment work is carried out.

A deal for the Hamilton Way outlet inside the Oak Mall has been concluded after it went under the hammer.The property is currently available ‘to let’ by Glasgow-based chartered surveyors Sutherland Brown.

Historic Sailing Ship To Return Home

Built in 1878 in Port Glasgow, the Falls of Clyde is currently moored in Honolulu harbour. A group campaigning to bring the ship back to Scotland said it had agreed a deal with a Dutch company to collect it in February next year.

Three Inverclyde Projects Get Cash To Promote Pedal Power

Efforts to support cycling in Inverkip have been given a £16,000 boost. Inverkip Community Hub is receiving the money which will go towards buying a bike shelter and repair station and paying for bikes, equipment and training.

Expansion plans are on the menu for Greenock pizza parlour Tonino’s which has been shortlisted for two national honours. Based at Grey Place, Tonino’s is a finalist in the ‘best pizzeria’ category at the Scottish Italian Awards for the second year in a row.

Barbara Crichton is one of four finalists in the Outstanding Individual category of the Howdens Scottish Empty Homes Champion of the Year. She has also been shortlisted for the People’s Vote which will be decided by a public poll online.

Safe at Home - New CCTV System Launched

River Clyde Homes has launched its new 24 hour CCTV monitoring service, the latest phase of its ambitious Safe at Home Strategy. Covering over 500 homes, the CCTV service is monitored 24 hours a day by our accredited Customer Experience Team.

A Greenock photographer has snapped up a top award in a UK-wide competition for his wildlife study of a colourful kingfisher. Gary Bradley was in the top three for his picture in the Carers' UK creative writing and photography contest.

Small Business Saturday UK Tour Bus Visits Inverclyde

Riverside Inverclyde has teamed up with Small Business Saturday UK to help support and promote small local firms ahead of this years event in December. Kempock Street in Gourock was one of 30 locations that the bus is stopping at over the next 25 days, and one of only 4 locations in Scotland.
