Hydro-Electric Power Plan For Countryside Near Inverkip

Planning permission is being sought for a hydro-electric power scheme that would take water in a new four-kilometre buried pipeline between Loch Thom and Inverkip. The 1,000-kilowatt facility would be based on the Kip Water.

Inverclyde's Schoolchildren Were The Beating Heart Of This Year's Galoshans Festival

Youngsters from St Michael's, St Francis' and Newark primary schools used drums and trumpets to hammer out the Ghostbusters theme tune on a spectacular Halloween parade. Organisers Rig Arts were overwhelmed by the response as 500 revellers turned out to enjoy some freakishly good fun.

McDonald's: 'Customers Are Lovin' New Restaurant In Port Glasgow'

Bosses at McDonald's say customers are lovin' their new restaurant in Port Glasgow in which has delivered almost 100 new jobs. Steve Tomlin, who has owned theGreenock McDonald's since 2004, is the franchisee and has invested £1m in the new venture.

Plea For Football Memorabilia To Help Bring Back Memories For Patients

Patients in the Larkfield Unit at Inverclyde Royal Hospital can now benefit from taking part in ward-based football memories sessions. The unit is now looking for donations of football memorabilia, from old programmes to scarves, to give the group some conversation starters.

Launch of SME Loan Fund From Resource Efficient Scotland

The Scottish Government, together with Zero Waste Scotland, has announced a new ‘cashback’ scheme for SMEs across Scotland. Eligible SMEs can apply for an unsecured, interest-free loan of up to £100,000 and receive 15% cashback on the value (*up to £10,000) to make energy efficiency improvements.

Greenock Care Home Wins National Gardening Title

Kincaid House, part of the Meallmore group, won the Meallmore in Bloom competition this year with their nautical themed design. Kincaid received a prize of £1,000 to put towards gardening and activities, as well a winner's plaque.

Homebase In Greenock Will Close Down By The End Of The Year

Homebase will close down by the end of the year at the latest - and moves are afoot to find a new shop for the building. It's been confirmed that the company must vacate the West Shaw Street building by 31 December 2018.

1980's Charity Night Brings £1,000 Boost For Hospice

Staff at Cardwell Garden Centre held an 80s-themed charity night in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. Many employees and guests dressed up in 80s-style costumes for the event and raised £523 with bosses topping that amount up to £1,000.
