Ferguson Marine, Port Glasgow, To Get £30 Million Government Loan

Port Glasgow shipyard Ferguson Marine Engineering (FMEL) is to get a £30 million loan from the Scottish Government to help it target new types of work. The loan will provide working capital, alongside investment from yard owners Clyde Blowers Capital, to help FMEL diversify its business.

Obituary: Douglas Rae, Chairman Of Greenock Morton FC

This quiet, diligent banker took the plunge, starting Golden Casket (Greenock) Ltd in 1959, initially operating out of the back of a van.

Today, this family confectionary firm is still run by the Rae family, and over the 49 years Douglas spent at the helm, Golden Casket grew into one of Scotland’s largest confectionary companies, until today, there are more than 200 employees and an annual turnover of £25 million.

Untying The Knot - New Homes on Site Of Historic Ropeworks

River Clyde Homes (RCH) has recently completed its latest development of new homes. The keys to all but one of 41 new homes have now been handed over and the residents took some time out to celebrate by untying a knot in some nautical rope, in tribute to the historic significance of the site which was once home to a ropeworks.

First Look At New Learning Centre

Youngsters from an Inverclyde Council nursery have had a sneak peek at their new £3.4million home. The new 100 pupil Glenpark Early Learning Centre has been built on part of the former Greenock Academy site to replace the current ‘west end’ facility at Kelly Street Nursery and St Mary’s Primary.

Major Plan Agreed For Doubling Inverclyde Nursery Hours

Inverclyde Council’s programme to deliver double the number of nursery hours by 2020 will mean 200 extra staff plus provision of three new council facilities and five refurbished facilities.

New President For Inverclyde Chamber Of Commerce

Gavin McDonagh, managing director of Holt Leisure Parks Ltd, has taken over as president of Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce, a role he will hold for the next two years.  The business organisation’s annual general meeting and barbecue at Gourock Golf Club was the setting for the presidency handover from Linda Scott, who works with Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions Ltd.

Ri Investment Head Appointed Director of Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce

Riverside Inverclyde’s head of business investment and operations, Andrew Bowman has been appointed as a Director with Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The appointment has been confirmed in an attempt to align Ri's and ICC’s promotional and event activities for businesses in Inverclyde and also aim to develop the growth of the ICC's membership.

Central Fulfilment Chooses Victoria House To Grow Business

Central Fulfilment, the fast growing distribution service has chosen Victoria House in Greenock as its new base to support further growth of the business. Following a period of sustained growth, the company is the latest tenant to sign up with regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde, taking 537 square feet at the Victoria House Workshops.

July Signals New Parking Charges

Off-street parking is divided into medium stay – up to 3 hours – and long stay for which a day ticket will cost £2 from July. These tickets can be used in any council car park on the day of issue. The maximum anyone will pay for parking in Inverclyde council operated parking spaces for the day will be £2.

The running of Inverclyde Lesuire's Kilmacolm Half Marathon, 10k and 3k is one of the biggest participation events in Inverclyde's sporting calendar. The Kilmacolm Running Festival is now a Scottish Athletics Licensed Event and Under UK Athletics Rules. We also encourage families to get involved for a fun filled day!
